Fire |
Little Tujunga Canyon near Sunland and Sylmar. The fire
has burned more than 5,300 acres and is threatening homes
and businesses. Containment was estimated at 20% before
this morning's flareup, 5% after. Evacuation centers have
been established at San Fernando High School, 1133 O'Melveny,
San Fernando and Sylmar High School, 13050 Borden Ave
Sylmar. A camp and several homes were evacuated within
the city limits near Kagel and Lopez canyons. Fire officials
called for the mandatory evacuation of Kagel Canyon and
Lopez Canyon was evacuated shortly thereafter. Animals
are being evacuated to Hansen Dam Equestrian Center. Evacuation

southeast from Oat Mountain on the north side of the san
Fernando Valley. Not contained. Over 5,000 acres burned.
Structures threatened near 118/DeSoto. Two deaths have
been associated with this fire. Evacuation are in effect
for:Box Canyon, Bell Canyon, Woolsey Canyon, Lake Manor,
Dayton Canyon, Brown Canyon, west of Valley Circle &
Twin Lakes area. Evacuation Centers: Shepherd of the Hills
in Porter Ranch and Ventura County Fairgrounds (for livestock
only) . Closures: Tampa at Stearns and 118 Fwy from 405
to Ventura County.
